Due to recent school emergencies, such as the shootings on the Purdue and University of Honolulu campuses, there has been a need to review the policies and procedures put in place by the Valparaiso University Police Department. NewsCenter 95 reporter Andrew Whitmyer interviewed Assistant Chief of Police Chuck Garber. In the interview, Garber stated that safety is VUPD’s utmost concern, and listed ways in which they can contact students, and students can get in touch with them, if such an emergency were to arise. Garber also stressed that it is important to notify the police of anything suspicious, even if it turns out to be harmless.
