December 10, 2015

Criminal Mischief

At 11:30 AM, a staff member reported ongoing problems with an unknown person spitting and putting food on his vehicle.  The incident is under investigation.

 

December 11, 2015

 

Gas Leak

At 4:30 PM, an officer and Valpo Fire/Rescue responded to Meier Hall for a report of a gas leak.  The gas was leaking from a regulator and NIPSCO repaired the leak.

 

December 12, 2015

 

Medical

At 12:13 PM, an officer and Valpo Fire/Rescue responded to Arts and Science for a student having a panic attack.  The student refused further medical attention and was transported to Porter Regional Hospital in a private vehicle.

 

Possible Impaired Driver

At 11:51 PM, an officer responded to Lincolnway for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver.  The officer stopped the driver and determined that he was not impaired.

Criminal Mischief

At 8:13 AM, an officer responded to Lot 43 for a report of damage to a vehicle.  There were no injuries and a report was taken.

Odor of Marijuana

At 12:42 AM, an officer responded to Wehrenberg Hall for a report of an odor of marijuana.  A search revealed marijuana and paraphernalia and two students were issued state citations and given court dates to appear for the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

 

Theft

At 6:12 PM, a student reported his bicycle had been stolen.  He stated he parked the bicycle at the Harre Union approximately two weeks prior to the report.  An officer checked campus but did not locate the bicycle.

Possession of Marijuana

At 3:20 PM, officers responded to Mound Street for a report of an odor of marijuana.  Officers located marijuana and paraphernalia and arrested three students.

 

December 18, 2015

 

Theft

At 5:35 PM, a student reported the theft of his bicycle from the Christopher Center.  An office checked campus but did not locate the bicycle.

Assist Other Jurisdiction

At 11:26 PM, Valparaiso Police requested an officer respond to Sturdy Road for a report of a physical altercation.  VU Officer, Porter County Sheriff’s, and a Valparaiso Officer responded. A male subject was arrested for battery.

 

December 22, 2015

 

Stalking

At 3:00 PM, a staff member reported being stalked by a student.  The former student was advised to have no contact.

 

December 23, 2015

 

Information

At 7:35 PM, an officer found three subjects playing basketball in the closed ARC.  The three non-campus subjects were escorted from the building.

 

December 29, 2015

 

Theft

At 4:38 PM, a professor reported the theft of a VU pennant from outside the professor’s office in Meier Hall.

 

December 30, 2015

 

Property Damage

At 12:44 AM, a VU officer on patrol found a tree had fallen on the Linwood House damaging the roof.

 

False Fire Alarm

At 7:43 PM, an officer and Valpo Fire/Rescue responded to Arts and Science for an activated fire alarm.  The alarm was determined to be a malfunction with the system.

Suspicious Person

At 10:42 AM, a staff member reported a suspicious contact on Facebook.  The detective assisted the staff member. The person was blocked from the Facebook account.

 

January 08, 2016

 

Theft

At 5:00 PM, VUPD received a report of theft from a student who was not on campus.  An unknown person had used the student’s OneCard. The detective resolved the case.

 

January 09, 2016

 

Medical

At 10:07 PM, officers and Valpo Fire/Rescue responded to Lankenau Hall for two students who were intoxicated.  Valpo Fire/Rescue transported one student to the Valparaiso Medical Center.

 

At 2:34 AM, officers and Valpo Fire/Rescue responded to Memorial Hall for a student who was intoxicated.  Valpo Fire/Rescue transported the student to the Valparaiso Medical Center.
